The Biology Direct Transfer Agreement degree consists of a minimum of 98.5 quarter credits earned in General Requirements, Distribution Requirements and Electives. This pathway is applicable to students planning to prepare for upper division Bachelor’s degree majors in Biology and is designed for students wishing to transfer to Central Washington University, Eastern Washington University, The Evergreen State College, University of Washington, Washington State University, Western Washington University, Saint Martin’s University, Seattle University, and Whitworth University.

OUTCOMES:

  • Communicate and interact effectively through a variety of methods appropriate to audience, context, purpose, and field/discipline.
  • Act responsibly in applying professional and academic standards associated with personal wellness; sustainable management of resources; and/or with success in educational, workplace, community, and team settings.
  • Reason clearly using academic or professional modes of inquiry; using quantitative or symbolic reasoning; and/or using other discipline/field specific methods to explore and create ideas; identify information needs; process, evaluate, and use information; and recognize, analyze and solve problems.
  • Explore and apply multiple perspectives in order to examine cultural differences and influences; maintain effective professional/working relationships; and/or interact effectively in multicultural settings.
  • Use Humanities-based methods to reason, communicate, make meaning, solve problems and/or create or perform cultural works for diverse audiences and purposes.
  • Use scientific and mathematical methods, modes of inquiry, laboratory and field equipment, and terminology to demonstrate knowledge, comprehension, and application of data, concepts and insights to tackle problems, conduct experiments, and critically evaluate proposals, claims, processes, and theories in biology.
  • Use social science theories and methods to reason, communicate, apply insights, solve problems, and to develop a critical understanding of the diversity and interdependence of peoples and cultures.

Admission requirements

Minimum age requirement - Applicants must be at least 16 years old. Applicants who are 15 years old will be accepted if they have completed high school or equivalent studies. 

Language requirements

An English proficiency exam score (TOEFL, IELTS, etc.) is not required for admission. However, students who submit TOEFL IBT 54 / IELTS 5.0 or equivalent will not have to take Intensive ESL classes.

This pathway is applicable to students planning to prepare for upper division bachelor’s degree majors in biology and is designed for students wishing to transfer to Central Washington University, Eastern Washington University, The Evergreen State College, University of Washington, Washington State University,Western Washington University, Saint Martin’s University, Seattle University, and Whitworth University. Meeting the requirements to graduate with an Edmonds CC certificate or degree is the responsibility of the student.

Transferring to Another University or College

  • Admission application deadlines vary, students must meet the deadline for the university or college to which they plan to apply for admission to transfer.
  • Consultation with the appropriate department or an advisor at the intended transfer school is highly recommended.

Depending on the type of biology degree and long term academic goals, some students may be best advised to complete the Associate in Science Track 1 degree instead of this Associate in Biology. Consult with a faculty adviser to determine which degree best suites your goals.
